What is Long Valley RC Club?

Hi, my name is Dylan Ortega, and ever since I was young, I’ve been infatuated with remote control vehicles. What started as simple curiosity quickly turned into a lifelong passion. As I got older, that love only grew — not just for driving RCs, but for everything behind them: the electronics, the mechanics, the design, the tuning, and the creativity that makes each build unique.

Along the way, I discovered photography and social media, and it clicked — why not combine my passion for RC vehicles with storytelling and visual creativity? That idea eventually grew into Long Valley RC, a community-driven RC club based right here in Buellton, California, in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley.

We don’t have one single property that’s “ours,” and honestly, that’s part of the fun. We meet up at local parks and public areas where RCs are allowed, explore different terrain, and enjoy the hobby together. We host RC NASCAR races, organize group crawler runs, and get together simply to drive, learn, and hang out. Sometimes I even travel down to Ojai to fly RC planes at a dedicated flying field — a separate club, but another great example of how broad and welcoming the RC world can be.

My goal with Long Valley RC is simple:
to teach, inspire, and bring people together. I want younger generations to discover how fun, educational, and rewarding this hobby can be — and I want older generations to rediscover that sense of excitement, creativity, and hands-on fun that RC vehicles bring.

If you’re in the Santa Ynez Valley and looking for a hobby that gets you outdoors, challenges your creativity, and introduces you to a great group of people, Long Valley RC is for you. Whether you’re brand new to RC or have been in the hobby for years, there’s a place for you here. No pressure, no egos — just good people, cool machines, and a shared love for RC.

Welcome to Long Valley RC.

I’m glad you’re here.
